Pitching Guidelines

PITCHING GUIDELINES
For
Sandlot Tournaments

Tournament management will not be involved in counting pitches or regulating pitching during Sandlot tournament events. The ultimate responsibility of managing pitch counts rests with each team’s Head Coach.

Sandlot Tournaments highest priority is the safety and health of our youth baseball players, cure and requests parents and coaches to be cognizant of the pitch counts.

Sandlot Tournaments endorses the Pitch Smart program, developed by USA Baseball and Major League Baseball. This program is a series of practical, age appropriate guidelines to help parents; players and coaches avoid overuse injuries and foster long, healthy careers for youth pitchers. A pitcher removed from a game may not re-enter the same game as a pitcher.

Below is our suggestion for innings pitched and or pitch count.

PITCHING LIMITATION:

12 innings for the Tournament, no more than 7 innings in one day.

An inning is defined as a legal pitch being made in that inning. If the pitcher takes the mound and throws one legal pitch to a batter then that pitcher is counted as using one complete inning.
